Indian Trail

Hamilton, Ontario · Front Extension & Façade Design · 2025

Some projects are about what’s inside. This one reshaped the outside.

The house had good bones but a flat, dated front that didn’t match its setting. So we extended it — pushing the front forward to give the house real presence, anchored by a new covered entry. From there we redrew the whole face of the house so it finally belonged to the land around it.

The look is warm and rustic-modern. A heavy timber truss gable over the new entry. Natural stone along the base and columns. Board-and-batten siding in a deep olive green that sits quietly against the trees. A black standing-seam metal roof to tie it together and stand up to the weather.

The result is a front that reads as one confident house — from the extended entry to the garage — settled into its hillside setting like it was always there.
