A two-storey great room in Lorne Park, Mississauga, reimagined as the warm heart of the home.
This home had the architecture — a soaring vaulted ceiling and a tall arched window — but the great room felt cold and unfinished. Studio Kimi kept the volume and rebuilt around it with light, texture, and a calm that invites you to stay.
Exposed oak beams bring the ceiling down to a human scale, and custom millwork — floating oak shelving that frames the arched passage between the living and family rooms — gives the space its anchor and quiet storage.
We furnished and styled both rooms end to end, sourcing every piece: cream upholstered sofas, soft bouclé swivel chairs, light oak tables, and a single dark botanical artwork that grounds the room.
Off the primary suite, a walk-in closet in warm walnut and oak carries the same material story — considered, tactile, and built to last.
Vernon was an interior design, decoration, and furnishing project: Studio Kimi handled the space planning, the custom millwork, and the full furniture and styling package — every piece sourced and placed so the rooms read as one calm, finished whole.
Where the great room once felt empty and echoing, it now feels warm and lived-in — a two-storey space the family actually gathers in.

The great room before the renovation.
