A bungalow that feels like a cottage — but lives like a forever home. This Oakville whole home renovation by Studio Kimi set out to do something specific. Take a 2,500 square foot bungalow and make it feel open, natural, and effortlessly warm. No dark corners, no wasted space, no heavy finishes. Just light, texture, and a home that breathes.
The open concept main floor is the heart of it. Removing walls wasn’t just a design decision — it was a lifestyle one. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the main level, all connected by wide-plank white oak flooring at 8 inches. The kind of floor that makes every room feel grounded and calm.
White marble countertops run through the kitchen, clean and timeless. Cabinetry adds warmth without weight — a tone that sits perfectly against the marble and the oak. Shiplap board accents bring that cottage feeling home, adding texture and character without pulling away from the overall calm of the space. Downstairs, two additional bedrooms and two bathrooms make the basement a fully liveable level — not an afterthought. An investment range of $200,000 to $300,000.
As a design-build studio, Studio Kimi handled the bungalow renovation end to end — opening up the floor plan, the wide-plank white oak flooring, the kitchen and bathrooms, and the lower-level build — so the whole home reads as one calm, light-filled space.
A home that finally matches the life being lived in it.
