Refined kitchen with island — Mississauga — Studio Kimi

Duncan — South-East Oakville. A whole-home renovation with a kitchen in pale oak, full-height cabinetry and soft white stone.

Why Studio Kimi

A kitchen built around how you live.

It’s where the day begins and where everyone ends up. We design kitchens to work hard and feel calm — warm materials, considered lighting, and storage that disappears into the design.

At Duncan we designed a kitchen in pale oak and soft white stone, with full-height cabinetry and a generous island — clean lines built for everyday living and entertaining — designed and built by Studio Kimi.

Oakville kitchens, specifically

Challenges we solve.

  • Semi-detached load-bearing walls. When an open-concept kitchen requires structural engineering and Oakville permit drawings.
  • 1960s and ’70s ranches.Lower ceilings and smaller windows. We redesign for natural light without raising the roof.
  • Newer Bronte and Joshua Creek homes.High ceilings, good bones. The design problem is restraint, not scope.
  • Heritage properties.Working within Town of Oakville heritage guidelines.

Investment

Honest about investment.

Every project is scoped individually. Our design fee is tailored to the size and scope of your home — typically 7–10% of the total investment.

We give you a detailed, honest cost range for your project after our Discovery meeting — no guesswork, no pressure.

Frequently asked

Questions we hear often.

How long does a kitchen renovation in Oakville take?

Design phase 6–10 weeks. Construction 12–20 weeks depending on scope. Permitting in Oakville typically adds 4–8 weeks.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen renovation in Oakville?

Cosmetic changes — paint, cabinets, countertops — don’t require permits. Structural changes — removing walls, moving plumbing, electrical updates — do. We handle the permit drawings and submit on your behalf.

Do you only design kitchens?

No. We design whole homes — kitchens, living spaces, primary suites, bathrooms, and additions. Many clients start with the kitchen and continue room by room.

Can you work with my contractor, or do you bring your own?

As we are also a design-build studio, we bring our own trades. We’re also happy to work with your contractor of choice.

Do you offer virtual consultations for Oakville clients?

Yes, for initial conversations. The site measurement and design refinement work happens in person.
